This year for Christmas we’ve decided to donate one hundred Christmas gifts to two different regional charities – Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Birmingham City Mission supporting the homeless.
As a business giving back to charity, and supporting those in need is very important to us. Each week we choose a ’cause of the week’ which we promote to our On The Tools community, and we also get involved in a range of activities, from running to baking, to support causes that matter that to us.
We move to our new office, at the Fort Dunlop building in Birmingham in the New Year, which is why we chose Birmingham based causes to support this year.
The fantastic work that these charities do to support local people is incredible – from saving children’s lives to offering food and friendship to some of the city’s most vulnerable and marginalised people.
To get more people involved and raise awareness of the charities, we contacted our clients and asked them to send us a picture in a Santa hat, and for every picture we received we’ve donated an extra Christmas present – getting us to the one hundred gifts number.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity
supports sick kids all year round, and at Christmas they run an appeal to collect donations and gifts for the kids who are in hospital over the festive period, which is what we’ve made our donation to.
Homelessness sadly continues to be a huge problem for Birmingham.
Birmingham City Mission provides homeless people with an evening meal, access to a warm and safe space and referrals to additional services. The BCM homeless drop-in centre, called the Care Centre, is open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Monday and Tuesday afternoons in Birmingham’s city centre, with plans to expand upon these hours.
We hope that our donations to these charities this Christmas make a few people smile.
If you’d like us to support your charity as one of our ’cause of the weeks’ or for another activity please get in touch.
